Forced Air Deicing Compressors

Vortron Industrial, which has been supplying its VT centrifugal compressor to the forced air deicing OE market, will now offer service, repair, plus new replacement units directly to the end-user. The most popular use of the VT unit has been with the FMC/JBT Tempest Deicer with the AirFirst™ forced air system. New replacement compressors are fully compatible with existing configurations and are manufactured under the same quality standards as with original equipment. These units include a 12-month limited warranty. For OE applications, a new high-flow VT-140 unit (140 pounds/minute) is scheduled for release in early 2012. With the VT-140 having an impressive 81 percent adiabatic efficiency rating, the compressor can be operated at under 100 hp input power (at an inlet temperature of 20 degrees F/-7 degrees C). Together with a close-coupled hydraulic drive motor, total package weight is less than 100 pounds.
