Aircraft Components inc. offers a product called the Engine Saver, designed to fight the buildup of water in aircraft engines. It bathes the interior of the engine with a flow of low humidity air when the aircraft is not flying. This low humidity air counteracts the natural condensation process and prevents water formation. The Engine Saver consists of a low pressure air pump, an air dryer, and a special adaptor that is placed into the end of engine breather tube where it extends from the bottom of the cowl. It produces a flow of low humidity air that is introduced into the engine through the breather. This dry air flow bathes the complete interior of the engine, and flushes the moist air out. The slight pump pressure forces the dry air through the piston ring end gap and into the cylinder, protecting the cylinder walls as well, finally exiting through an open valve. This provides a continuous flow of dry air to protect the internal engine surfaces. For more information visit www.flyingsafer.com or call (727) 841-0438.
