The Energy Miser system

Sept. 15, 2008
Flight Options, headquartered in Cleveland, has a fleet of more than 200 aircraft for executive use. As such, the condition of its fleet and the appearance of its hangars are of utmost importance to both Flight Options and its clientle. The 35,000-square foot hangar had previously been covered with blown insulation. When hangar doors were open, wind gusts would loosen the insulation, the pieces of which detached from the ceiling and landed on the aircraft and hangar floor. Insulation Corporation of America (ICA) was retained to insulate Flight Options' hangar. The Energy Miser system, featuring a bright white facing that is attached directly to the structural steel, was installed throughout the hangar, thereby eliminating from the facility the deteriorating blown insulation. Flight Options' newly renovated hangar not only has a clean, bright appearance, but also a more energy efficient operation. The fast-track installation had minimal impact on hangar operations.
