Indy Airport ‘Ticks All the Boxes’ Among World’s Best Airports

July 26, 2018

The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) takes a top spot -- again -- with travelers in Travel + Leisure Magazine’s 2018 World’s Best Awards for favorite domestic airports.

The magazine cited the Indy airport as the “one hub that ticked off all the boxes” when it comes to cleanliness, safety and accessibility – with travelers describing the terminal as “new, bright and beautiful.”

“Aesthetics, safety and flow throughout the terminal are important fundamentals in the larger traveler experience,” said Indianapolis Airport Authority Mario Rodriguez. “We build upon that with a culture of excellent customer service, via our airport staff, concessions and a range of airport amenities all designed to leave a world-class impression.”

Travelers were asked to rate airports across the world on a variety of services including access, check-in, security, restaurants, bars, shopping and design. The magazine said travelers indicated that “bigger isn’t always better when it comes to the most beloved airports in America.”

The Indianapolis International Airport took the number-two spot (79.35) among the World’s Best domestic airports, scoring just a hair’s width behind Portland International Airport (80.70). This is the third year in a row that travelers have voted the Indy airport among the top of the top 10 best domestic airports in the world.

“The World’s Best list confirms we’re at the top of the game among U.S. airports when it comes to customer satisfaction,” said Rodriguez. “It also gives us valuable insight in how we can continue to improve, and enhance the airport’s public value through decisions we make in the future.”
