Air BP and Signature Flight Support Offset Carbon Emissions for Their EBACE Attendees

May 29, 2018
Emissions will be offset by BP Target Neutral, BP’s voluntary carbon offsetting program.

Signature Flight Support in collaboration with Air BP will be offsetting their travel to the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) this year in Geneva, Switzerland. Emissions will be offset by BP Target Neutral, BP’s voluntary carbon offsetting program. EBACE attendees who are interested in learning more about carbon emissions offset should visit Signature Flight Support’s booth #O104 from 29 – 31 May at Geneva Palexpo.

This collaboration builds on Signature’s announcement in October 2017 that the carbon emissions from jet fuel purchased by Air BP Sterling Card holders at any participating Signature FBO location in the U.S. will be offset via BP Target Neutral. At no extra cost to Sterling Card holders, emissions are balanced by a carbon reduction credit, a certificate that guarantees the carbon emitted into the atmosphere is being offset by one of several environmental programs. Signature customers simply use their Air BP Sterling Card at participating Signature locations to receive the carbon offset.

“Signature Flight Support and BBA Aviation’s commitment to reducing our carbon footprint is a key component of our corporate social responsibility mission,” stated Mark Johnstone, Group Chief Executive for BBA Aviation plc and CEO of Signature Flight Support. “We are pleased that we can utilize BP’s Target Neutral program to offset the carbon generated by our EBACE attendees.  Our collaboration with Air BP to reduce our impact on the environment is yielding results not only for Signature Flight Support at a corporate level, but also for our customers who use the Air BP Sterling Card to purchase fuel.”

This joint approach to carbon reduction shows the continued commitment of two major players in the business aviation market to achieve a lower-carbon future.

Irene Lores, Global General Aviation Sales and Marketing Manager explains: “We’re committed to supporting the industry address the dual challenge of meeting its need for more energy, while at the same time reducing carbon emissions.  As the first aviation fuel supplier to achieve carbon neutrality for our own into-plane fuelling services, and the first to supply biojet through an airport’s hydrant, we see this collaboration with Signature as a great way to support our operator customers in their transition to a lower carbon future.”

BP Target Neutral has over 12 years’ experience in carbon offsetting and purchasing carbon credits from projects all over the world. The 2018 portfolio is invested in eight carbon reduction projects which have the total capacity to offset 2.5m tonnes of CO2e, improve the livelihoods of over 2,200,000 people though better health, generate nearly 8,300 GWh of renewable energy and support the protection of over 40,000 hectares of globally significant habitat.

Since 2014, Signature has been a member of the FTSE4Good Index and has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project. Its dedicated Responsibility team is focused on continuous improvement in environmental performance, and the partnership will play an integral role in helping achieve established objectives
