MONTREAL – 8 January 2018 – The International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) has announced it is coordinating with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to participate in numerous workshops in 2018 as well as present at several business aviation events to educate the industry on the new Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), a global measure to address international aviation emissions agreed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). .

Kurt Edwards, Director General of IBAC commented, “It is important that international business aviation operators understand this new global carbon offsetting scheme and those that are not covered by exclusions need to take steps in 2018 to begin gathering data to fuel burn from international flights.” Edwards added, “CORSIA was developed by ICAO with significant aviation industry input, and we welcome this measure as part of a larger suite of measures, including air traffic management modernization, new technologies, and sustainable alternative fuels, to reduce emissions. We appreciate working with IATA to participate in several of their workshops and look forward to presenting details on CORSIA at several business aviation events this year.”
