Dec. 11, 2017

Leading travel retailer Hudson Group President and CEO Joseph DiDomizio and American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) President and CEO Todd Hauptli today announced a major expansion of the Mario DiDomizio Excellence in Education Scholarship program at the Hudson Group’s annual Management Seminar and Vendor Show at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. The program, initiated in 2017, is doubling in size for 2018 and expanding the eligibility pool to include both Hudson Group employees and their children. The initial class of Mario DiDomizio scholars was limited to sons and daughters of Hudson Group employees.

In making the announcement, Joseph DiDomizio, President and CEO of Hudson Group, Division CEO North America of Dufry, remarked, “Paying for college, whether for yourself or your family, is one of life’s most important – and difficult – responsibilities. We strive to support educational efforts in communities we serve and for our own team members and their families. We are honored to partner with AAAE on this important initiative.”

AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli added, “The Hudson Group is a great partner in the airport community and their commitment to improving educational opportunities in the communities they serve is inspirational. We are thrilled to help provide a pathway to higher education for Hudson Group team members and their families through this joint initiative.”

The Mario DiDomizio Excellence in Education Scholarship program is administered by the AAAE Foundation, which has awarded more than $4.5 million in scholarships to over 2,800 students since 1989, making it one of the largest supporters of higher education assistance in the aviation industry. For the 2018-2019 academic year, ten (10) $5,000 DiDomizio scholarships will be awarded, up from five (5) scholarships in the initial class of scholars.

Applicants must submit an application which addresses their academic records, financial need, participation in school and community activities, work experience and a personal statement.
