AERO Specialties Announces New Hitch Based Safety Product

Munich, Germany, Oct. 10, 2017 -- Every day an aircraft is damaged during pushback or towing operations. The SiPsHitch is designed to assist in the prevention of shear pin breakage and aircraft nose gear damage that often occurs during towing exercises.

SiPsHitch is an add on option for all makes of towbar type tractors. The product will visually and audibly alert the operator of potential shear pin breakage or impending hazard to the landing gear. It can even restrict tractor power output prior to overstress and damage to the aircraft nose gear. The unit is intuitive, durable and can also be the perfect training assistant for new tractor operators, or those refreshing their skills.

“The patented system finally addresses the issues caused by dangerous forces being applied upon aircraft landing gear. These forces are often associated with towing procedures when on gradients, exiting a hangar threshold, the shock caused by braking and acceleration; as well as operator error when attempting to tow with the aircraft brakes on or while the aircraft is chocked,” said general manager Brad Streeter.
