Sunrise Airways Operates Humanitarian Relief Flight to St. Maarten/St. Martin in the Wake of Hurricane Irma

Sept. 15, 2017

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – (September 14, 2017) – Haiti-based Sunrise Airways joined in disaster recovery efforts currently underway in St. Maarten/St. Martin due to Hurricane Irma, airlifting 150 persons to Curacao earlier this week (September 12, 2017). The humanitarian relief flight was organized in conjunction with Dutch Special Forces, the Republic of India, and local officials in St. Maarten/St. Martin to rescue more than 100 Indian nationals stranded by the storm. In an extended gesture of goodwill, Sunrise Airways further opened the flight to wives and children of St. Maarten/St. Martin police officers and other first responders.

“This type of humanitarian effort embodies the whole notion of what our ‘One Caribbean’ mantra is all about,” said Philippe Bayard, President of Sunrise Airways. “We are proud to stand in solidarity with our Caribbean brothers and sisters in St. Martin, and elsewhere in Irma’s path, during this very trying time of need.”
