MKE Passenger Traffic Continues Upward Trend

June 29, 2017

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele on June 29, announced that passenger traffic at Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) increased 1.2 percent in May.

On the heels of the ten percent increase in passengers recorded in April, May passenger traffic was 577,385, up from 570,643 passengers in May 2016. American Airlines and Frontier Airlines added the most domestic passengers last month. International traffic was up by more than 2,000 passengers due to new nonstop Volaris service to Guadalajara, Mexico.

“A great lineup of new flights is available to MKE travelers, thanks to air service announcements we have made in recent weeks,” County Executive Chris Abele said. “Just last week, Allegiant announced it’s entering the Milwaukee market with new nonstops to Florida and Arizona this fall. And, earlier this month, Alaska Airlines launched new nonstop service to Portland.”

Southwest also announced it will begin nonstop service to Nashville and Cleveland later this year, while OneJet added a second weekday nonstop flight to Pittsburgh starting this month.

MKE offers nonstop flights to 44 destinations coast-to-coast – many on full-size mainline aircraft – and 160 international destinations are available from Milwaukee with just one connection. MKE is served by Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Norwegian (Apple Vacations/Funjet Vacations), OneJet, Southwest, United, and Volaris.
