Porter Airlines Grows Atlantic Market With New Service to Fredericton

June 26, 2017

Porter Airlines is on its way to Fredericton, N.B., adding another destination to its Atlantic Canada roster.

Flights begin Sept. 12, with daily non-stop service between Ottawa and Fredericton, and continuing service on the same aircraft to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. A detailed schedule is available at online, with flights now available for booking.

"Porter has received tremendous support from Atlantic Canada communities and we're looking forward to adding service to New Brunswick's capital," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines.  "Our commitment to customer service, along with providing more options and competitive fares, will be a welcome addition for Fredericton travellers."

Fredericton International Airport and the City of Fredericton welcomed the announcement as another important option for its customers.

"This is fantastic news for our region, and we're excited to welcome Porter to the Fredericton International Airport. As the capital city of New Brunswick and home to the second-largest military base in Canada, we have strong ties to Ottawa, and our vibrant business community will also benefit from the onward flight directly to Billy Bishop Airport in downtown Toronto," says Johanne Gallant, President and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority.

"We welcome Porter to Fredericton. We are a dynamic and growing community with an increasingly busy airport.  This is good for business, good for leisure travelers, good for our airport and good for central and western New Brunswick's future," said Fredericton Mayor Mike O'Brien.

Direct flights to Ottawa are an added benefit of the daily service for business and leisure travellers.

"We're thrilled to see Porter Airlines build their YOW-Atlantic Canada reach with the addition of Fredericton," said Mark Laroche, President and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority. "Having Ottawa-Gatineau well-connected to Canada's provincial and territorial capitals just makes sense. The addition of Porter Airlines to this route enhances both capitals' business and tourism connectivity."

Porter's home base at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is known for its convenience and proximity to downtown Toronto; just 2.5 km from the central business and entertainment districts. Porter provides a premium experience for all passengers, including leather seats, complimentary wine and beer onboard, and airport lounge access. Its "flying refined" philosophy has helped the airline win numerous global awards.

Fredericton is known as the 'city at the edge of nature,' with 88 kilometres of hiking trails and the Saint John River running through the city. The vibrant city celebrates art, music and local flavours with year-round festivals and an inspirational cultural scene worth exploring time and time again.

Porter also announced new service today for Saint John, N.B., beginning on Sept. 21.
