Halifax Stanfield Rated Among Best Airports in the World

March 16, 2017

Halifax Stanfield has been rated by passengers to be among the world’s best airports in two separate surveys.

In the 2017 Skytrax World Airport Awards, Halifax Stanfield was:

  • 2nd Best Airport in the World for its size - under 5 million passengers (3rd in 2016)
  • 4th Best Regional Airport in North America (4th in 2016)

These awards are known in the travel industry as the Passenger’s Choice Awards and were announced this week at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

“Our airport community should be very proud of this accomplishment. Being acknowledged by our passengers is a real honour,” says Joyce Carter, Halifax International Airport Authority President & CEO. “We believe recognition like this comes as a result of great cooperation and collaboration among everyone in our airport community and these awards validate our unique approach to the customer experience.”

Earlier this week, at the same conference taking place in Amsterdam, Halifax Stanfield was invited to share its experience allowing other airports to learn from Halifax Stanfield on how to be both cost effective and offer the highest quality of service.

The Skytrax Awards are based on over 13.82 million airport survey questionnaires completed by 105 different nationalities of airline customers and more than 550 airports worldwide are nominated. The survey evaluates traveller experiences across different airport performance indicators from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through to departure at the gate.

Earlier this month, Halifax Stanfield received another recognition from its passengers.

In the 2016 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) ratings, Halifax Stanfield tied for third best for overall passenger satisfaction in North America. ASQ awards are presented to airports whose passengers have rated them the highest over the course of a year, based on their demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer experience.
