Dallas, TX (March 06, 2017) –– Representatives of Genesys Aerosystems announced today that MD Helicopters has selected the company’s new-generation Integrated Display Units (IDUs) as standard aboard the twin-engine, MD 902 Explorer helicopter.

“We are extremely excited and proud that MD Helicopters has selected our integrated display units for the MD 902 Explorer,” stated the company’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Jamie Luster. “We believe that our technology and ability to provide unique solutions to MD Helicopters will help them achieve even greater success for the MD 902 in the growing global market for VVIP and special mission helicopters.”

“We are thrilled to be partnered with Genesys Aerosystems for our twin-engine glass cockpit initiatives,” said Craig Kitchen, Chief Commercial Officer for MD Helicopters. “The Genesys team has developed a highly-capable, customizable solution that will provide a tremendous leap forward in technology for us, and enhanced accessibility to critical data for our operators.”

“Along with providing the three-IDU configuration, our engineering team was also tasked with integrating a turn-key solution for all of the aircraft’s other cockpit systems, including dual GPS WAAS, ADS-B, remote LRUs for the radios, radar altimeter, and the data acquisition units for the display of engine information and warnings,” Luster said. “This is an extremely sophisticated IFR-capable cockpit, which is the perfect complement for a very capable multi-role, all-weather helicopter like the MD 902.”

“The open architecture of the Genesys IDUs was instrumental in ensuring that all the various avionics could be harmoniously integrated without the need for additional hardware,” she continued. “In addition, the flexibility of the system’s software will enable operators to easily add the next-generation of upgrades and enhancements, which protects the operator’s long-term investment.”
