TAP Portugal Adds New Service to Cologne, Germany, its 8th New Destination for 2017

With this new route to the Cologne/Bonn Airport TAP will now fly to seven destinations in Germany: Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, and Düsseldorf.

New York – February 17, 2017 – TAP Portugal will commence twice daily flights between Lisbon and Cologne, Germany, starting July 15th this year.   This announcement makes Cologne the eighth new destination to be added to TAP’s global network in 2017, including Toronto (Canada), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Stuttgart (Germany), Gran Canaria and Alicante (Spain), Bucharest (Romania) and Budapest (Hungary).

With this new route to  the Cologne/Bonn Airport TAP will now fly to seven destinations in Germany: Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, and Düsseldorf.

The new flights will be operated with Embraer 190 aircraft, which accomodate 106 passengers, and will depart Lisbon at 12:30pm and 7:05pm, returning from Cologne at 5:20pm and 6am.

The Cologne/Bonn Airport is strategically located between both cities, serving 11 million passengers per year on more than 40 airlines.

Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf are all located within the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region, the largest in Germany, with close to 11 million inhabitants. With the addition of service to Stuttgart, TAP will fly also to Germany’s six largest metropolitan region.

Low fares from the U.S. include $648 round-trip from New York’s John F Kennedy International, Newark, and Boston, or $748 from Miami, for travel between September 1 and October 31, 2017.   For Canadians, round-trip travel from Toronto Pearson International starts at CAD $974 for the same dates.

All TAP’s fares beyond Lisbon include up to three days’ Stopover in Portugal for no extra airfare.  The Stopover booking option is available in flight search mode on TAP’s website (www.flytap.com)  or through the TAP Stopover app, available from the Apple Store or Google Play, which provide passengers with a virtual ID card to be used for travel benefits.  

In addition to great fares, TAP’s Stopover program includes hotel discounts and other added benefits such a free bottle of Portuguese wine in restaurants and value-added experiences, such as tuk-tuk rides, visits to museums, dolphin watching in the River Sado and food tastings.  The app also incorporates a travel guide and enables customers to share their experiences with friends and family through social media.
