Tim Hortons Opens Larger Store with New Concept Design

Jan. 27, 2017

The newest food and beverage offering at Halifax Stanfield is now open. Tim Hortons has opened its new concept store on the domestic/international departures level. The new store is located at the top of the pre-board security screening area and replaces the old Tim Hortons location which was previously located near Gate 20.

“We are pleased to welcome this larger and more modern Tim Hortons,” says Jo-Anne McLean, Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) director non-aeronautical revenue & corporate marketing. “We are in the process of revamping our concessions program and we’re confident our passengers, visitors, and airport community members will embrace this new and improved food and beverage option while enjoying the Canadian staple.”

Construction of this new location began back in October and was completed by Bayshore Contracting. The new store is approximately 1,500 square feet, roughly double the size of the old location. The shop will be open daily 4:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. (subject to change depending on flight schedules). It features a sit down area and is updated with the latest Tim Hortons store design, including cozy seating, a fireplace and television.

“We are very pleased with our new site,” says Steve Breed, operator of the airport Tim Hortons locations. “We have been in the departures area of the airport for fourteen years and this is the first time we have been a self-sufficient store. That means we now house all the products within the restaurant and bake all of our menu items on site, rather than relying on the restaurant in the food court to bake for us. This will allow us replenish items faster and better serve our guests.”

There are three Tim Hortons locations at Halifax Stanfield. In addition to this new store, a 24/7 Tim Hortons is located pre-security in the food court, there is a store on Bell Boulevard, and there is a Tim Hortons kiosk in US departures.
