Xiamen Airlines Chooses AFI KLM E&M GEnx Engines Support

China airline entrusts engine support for its six new Boeing 787-9s to AFI KLM E&M.

Paris, Amstelveen, Xiamen, 20 January 2017 - AFI KLM E&M and Xiamen Airlines today officially finalized an agreement organizing support for the GEnx-1B74/75 engines equipping the Chinese airline’s fleet of Boeing 787-9s, which will ultimately cover a total of six aircraft. Xiamen Airlines, which took delivery of its first 787-9 on 8 December 2016, is thus growing its relationship with AFI KLM E&M who is already providing Component and Engines Support for the carrier’s six 787-8s. The contract will cover shop visits and the maintenance and spare engine access to guarantee the availability of Xiamen Airlines ‘787-9’ fleet and the seamless continuity of its operations. The maintenance will be performed at AFI KLM E&M’s worldwide-recognized GEnx center of excellence in Amsterdam. 

AFI KLM E&M and Xiamen Airlines have worked together for many years on CFM56-7B and GEnx Engine Support and 787-8 Component Support. During that time, the Chinese airlines has been able to rely on and appreciate the level of quality and responsiveness in implemented for the Genx power plants equipping its fleet of 787-8s, Xiamen Airlines decided to extend the maintenance agreement to the engines equipping its fleet of 787-9s.
