Astronaut Scholarship Foundation founder, former Astronaut and U.S. Senator John Glenn passes away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at age 95.

Glenn was the last remaining member of the Mercury Seven - the iconic group of astronauts known for their charismatic charm and adventurous spirit. As the last of the original space pioneers, Glenn's death increases the expansive void left by the loss of these legendary American heroes.

Glenn earned his respected place in history for being the first U.S. astronaut to orbit Earth. He earned his place in our hearts for being a true gentleman, a public servant and a trustworthy leader. A visionary, Glenn co-founded the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation with the desire to inspire students to pursue their education and ultimately their dreams. It is with saddened hearts we echo the famous words spoken by his friend and fellow Mercury Seven astronaut, the late Scott Carpenter each time Glenn embarked on a mission. "Godspeed, John Glenn."
