NATA Applauds Selection of Elaine Chao To Lead the Department of Transportation

Nov. 30, 2016

On Nov. 29, President-elect Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao to lead the Department of Transportation. Secretary Chao also served as Deputy Secretary of Transportation in the administration of President George H.W. Bush. The following can be attributed to NATA President Martin H. Hiller:

“NATA congratulates Secretary Elaine Chao on her selection by President-elect Trump as our next Secretary of Transportation. Secretary Chao is a serious, substantive choice to head a department that is critical to the economic success of our nation. In the coming days, we will all be looking to the Department of Transportation to lead the discussions about the best way to invest in our nation’s infrastructure, including our airports and modernizing our air traffic control system. Secretary Chao’s familiarity with the Department – and the bigger picture that drives debates about transportation policy – will be critical to moving our nation forward. Aviation businesses are excited to work with Secretary Chao and her team and we thank President-elect Trump for his excellent choice.”
