New Orleans-based Air Carrier GLO Marks One Year in Service November 15

Nov. 17, 2016

New Orleans-owned and -based GLO celebrates one year in air service Nov. 15. With three original routes departing from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) on a daily basis, plus seasonal and tri-weekly routes, GLO has responded to passenger demand for connectivity in the Gulf and Mid-South regions by adding two additional stations and three routes in a single year in service.

Founder and CEO Trey Fayard launched GLO so business and leisure travelers alike could get to and from their destinations in a fraction of the time it would take to drive or endure a connecting flight. GLO’s model, utilizing a fleet of 30-seat Saab 340B aircraft, caters to travelers in destinations that were adversely impacted by major airline mergers and the reduction of service in mid-market cities in the Gulf and Mid-South regions. Average time on a GLO flight for its six routes is 1 hour and 35 minutes gate-to-gate.

“This past year has been incredible for GLO, our team, partners and passengers. We have heard from our passengers how desperately air service and regional connectivity was needed and are happy we can provide a solution,” Fayard stated. “The fact that we were able to add a pair of additional cities in this time frame also shows us the future of regional air travel is bright and we’ll get there on a non-stop flight.”

To celebrate, GLO is offering a limited amount of $15 fares on all new flights through Jan. 31. These fares are available on Nov. 15 only, round-trip purchase is not required and fares are strictly non-refundable and non-changeable.

In addition, GLO is now an official partner of the TSA Pre✓ program. GLO passengers who are TSA Pre✓® certified may now utilize the service in all airports GLO services.

“We are a very high touch airline, from our gate agents, to flight attendants and leadership, there is a direct line from our passengers to staff,” Fayard added. “TSA Pre✓ is the number one request we get from passengers and we are happy to announce that we are now officially a partner, which will make traveling with GLO even faster for those registered.”

GLO’s sold-out, inaugural flight from New Orleans to Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport (LIT) in Little Rock on Nov. 15, 2015 marked a new era in regional service in the region. Additional daily, non-stop routes subsequently launched to Memphis International Airport (MEM) on Nov. 29, 2015 and Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) on Dec. 14, 2015.

GLO added seasonal service between its fifth station, Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS), and Little Rock on March 25, followed by the New Orleans-Destin-Fort Walton Beach route on June 24. Holiday service between Little Rock and Destin-Fort Walton Beach will also run on selected dates between Nov. 22, and Jan. 3.

GLO has seen an even balance of business and leisure travel in its year in operation. International travelers have also utilized GLO’s non-stop service to quickly reach additional southern destinations.

With Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in the midst of building a brand new, world-class terminal, GLO is in a position to become a cornerstone of Louisiana’s transportation base, as well as that of the regions it serves.

“We would like to thank GLO for its presence in our market as the only New Orleans-owned and based carrier. GLO is a vital part of the air service provided from the Airport,” said Walter J. Krygowski, Acting Director of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. ”We congratulate GLO on its first year of operations and look forward to its continued growth in the coming years.”
