Two deadlines are approaching for individuals interested in applying for a Women in Aviation International (WAI) scholarship for 2017. In order to apply, you must be a WAI member as of November 1, 2016. Scholarship applications must be submitted online or postmarked no later than November 14, 2016. New this year, all applications may be submitted online at www.WAI.org.

"Life-changing scholarships totaling $662,625 are available from generous companies, organizations and individuals and are ready to be awarded,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. "Keep in mind that these are not purely academic scholarships. Funding is available for flight training, including type ratings, and simply for flying for fun or exploring a new area of interest within aviation.”

With a wide range of objectives, WAI scholarships are offered not only for students, but for WAI members of all ages and pursuits, including mechanics, engineers, dispatchers, ag pilots, flight instructors, and a range of other diverse occupations. At WAI’s 2016 conference, WAI’s scholarship program exceeded $10 million cumulatively, impacting 1,300 WAI members and launching and improving hundreds of aviation careers.

"With the diverse interests of our members in mind, WAI offers scholarships that could apply to the broadest cross section of our members,” adds Dr. Chabrian.

A description of all 113 scholarships, application requirements, the online application and tips for creating a successful application can be found at www.WAI.org/education/scholarships.

Scholarships for 2017 will be awarded during WAI's 28th annual International Women in Aviation Conference to be held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, from March 2-4, 2017.
