On the final weekend in October, it will be time for the clocks to go back an hour and for Munich Airport's new winter timetable to come into effect: For the period from Sunday, Oct. 30, until March 25, the airlines have booked slots for more than 147,000 take-offs and landings – an increase of about 6 percent over the previous winter season.

This winter a total of 206 domestic and foreign destinations will be served from Munich airport. Alongside 16 airports in Germany, travellers in Munich can choose from among 133 European cities. In the intercontinental segment, 57 routes will be served. The winter highlights include long-haul connections offered by Condor to Mauritius, the East African city of Mombasa and the island of Zanzibar, to Caribbean destinations such as Havanna and Holguin in Cuba, Montego Bay and Bridgetown in Barbados and Tobago, and San José in Costa Rica. Condor will offer up to 16 flights per week from Munich to these attractive destinations.

In the continental segment, easyjet is launching a service to Switzerland, with five weekly departures to Geneva. A new destination in Lufthansa's extensive winter schedule is Marrakesh, with services departing on Fridays and Sundays to the city in the south-west of Morocco. This winter Utair will operate weekend flights to St. Petersburg, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday departures. Transavia is adding a number of attractive beach destinations to the extensive network of routes it operates from Munich.  The Dutch-French carrier will fly to each of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Teneriffa on the Canary Islands twice a week. Transavia will also operate four weekly flights to the Israeli port city of Tel Aviv and, with the launch of four weekly connections to Amsterdam from mid-February, will add a new European destination.
