Southwest Florida International Airport Reports September Traffic

During September, 391,844 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 3 percent compared to September 2015. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 3.3 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in September was Delta Air Lines with 94,394 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (73,189), JetBlue (68,640), American (63,777) and United (32,760).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 3,798 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 1.6 percent compared to September 2015. Page Field saw 7,322 movements, a 21.6 percent increase from September 2015. In addition, slightly more than 2.4 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in September 2016, a decrease of 8.2 percent compared to September 2015.

Southwest Florida International Airport served nearly 8.4 million passengers in 2015 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.
