Duncan Aviation Receives Honeywell Heavy Maintenance Authorization

Oct. 6, 2016
Duncan Aviation will begin scheduling CZI/MPI events for non-MSP (maintenance service plan) operators by January 2017.

LINCOLN, NEB — Duncan Aviation has signed an agreement with Honeywell to extend its engine service authorizations designating the Lincoln, Nebraska, Duncan Aviation location as a Honeywell TFE731 Heavy Maintenance facility.

With the heavy authorization, Duncan Aviation will be permitted to inspect and repair the compressor zone on the Honeywell TFE731 engine during scheduled CZI (Compressor Zone Inspection) events, unscheduled compressor zone repairs, and expanded Service Bulletin capabilities. Duncan Aviation will begin scheduling CZI/MPI events for non-MSP (maintenance service plan) operators by January 2017.

According to Sharon Klose, Turbine Engine Service Sales Rep, “Operators who choose to come to Duncan Aviation continue to choose us again and again because no other engine service center has the quality of people or the depth of TFE731 experience in the industry. Honeywell Heavy Maintenance Authorization just adds to our customers’ one-stop-shop experience.”

With the addition of the heavy authorization, James Prater, Manager of Turbine Engine Services, expects to hire approximately 10 new turbine engine technicians over the next three years. “These added capabilities allow us to better serve our customers, which may lead to increased segment presence, requiring us to add technicians in order to keep up with demand as our heavy repair business matures.”

Duncan Aviation is planning a facility expansion that will house a new test cell and control room. The test cell will be constructed and fully functional by the end of 2017.

Duncan Aviation also added six rental engines to its fleet of available Honeywell engines. The Duncan Aviation rental engine fleet includes: HTF7000, HTF7350 and TFE731 (-2C, -3, -5B, -20, -40, and -60).

Duncan Aviation has been a Honeywell Authorized Service Center for more than 30 years with Minor Authorization on Honeywell AS907 (HTF7000) Series and Line Authorization on CFE738 Engines, GTCP36-100/150, RE100 series and RE220 series APUs.
