Aircraft Propeller Service, LLC (APS, www.aircraftpropeller.com, Lake Zurich, IL), a global leader in aircraft propeller maintenance services, is now providing in-region MRO services in Asia. APS is providing its maintenance and repair services at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) from Hangar Six, a facility that is wholly-owned by Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB), its strategic partner for the facility. APS’s MRO operations will be located within the security zone on the second floor of MAB’s Hangar Six. The APS MRO shop recently received Malaysia DCA approval to perform 568F propeller blade repairs on behalf of its customers in Malaysia.

APS’ presence in Asia stems from it having been named, in early 2015, as the OEM licensee for the propellers flown on ATR aircraft. Part of the rationale for the OEM to license a third party (i.e., APS) was to provide in-region MRO support of its product. Customer feedback and requests for more local support for their repairs led the OEM to grant a license to APS.

“We are very excited to be able to bring the APS value proposition to operators in Asia,” said APS Vice President of Sales and Marketing Dennis Santare. “The Asian marketplace is exploding with growth. We see this endeavor as a great first step into the MRO market within Asia. We have a fantastic set of partners, especially our host, MAB, and we are poised to take part in what will be significant growth for the next 10 years and beyond.”

In providing its MRO services in Asia, APS can deliver significant benefits to airlines operating in the region. Specifically, the company can provide more competitive pricing, freight savings, faster turnaround, close OEM technical support and a comprehensive exchange pool directly from the MAB Malaysia-based facility. The facility will be staffed with MAB personnel and APS employees providing customer service locally.

Santare said that APS already has contracts lined up for the Asian facility with major Asian ATR operators. “We are ready to be an excellent service provider and continue to earn their business with every single repair we do,” he added.
