CXO Welcomes International Business Travel With New U.S. Customs Facility

Sept. 15, 2016

Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport (CXO) opened its U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Federal Inspection Station (FIS) Sept. 12, which will provide service to arriving international flights that will benefit business travelers and the local economy.

The 3,300 square-foot customs clearance facility, located at 2975 Hawthorne Drive, Conroe, Texas 77303, will open for service under the federal User Fee Airport Program, which reimburses CBP for all operating costs with fees collected from arriving aircraft. The facility will provide a full-time on-site customs officer from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

CXO will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House on Sept. 22, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Located 35 miles from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, one of the largest commercial airports in the U.S., the CXO FIS facility will meet the current demand for services and is expected to attract additional international business travelers looking to do business in the North Houston area. The provision of this service  is also expected to further fuel the local North Houston economy through greater ease of access to the region from Canada, Mexico, and Central America.

"As our region continues to grow its economy and we become more globally connected, this project is a natural fit for Montgomery County and the City of Conroe," said Scott Smith, Airport Director. "The customs service is, simply, effective planning to meet current and future demand for our local and international business communities".
