Marketplace PHL and Philadelphia International Airport Awards 2015-2016 Merchant of the Year

The Philadelphia Marketplace at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) awarded its Merchant of the Year distinction to Sky Asian Bistro during the annual EDGIE awards event aboard the Spirit of Philadelphia. Sky Asian Bistro, located in Concourse C, took home a $1,000 prize, the EDGE! Trophy and the coveted title of “Merchant of the Year” for 2015-2016.

Rahim Essahli, Tom DiStefano and Eugene Judge of Sky Asian Bistro were welcomed on stage to accept the award. Sky Asian Bistro offers PHL passengers fresh sushi and a variety of Asian fusion menu items in a relaxing, upscale setting, as well as to-go options for travelers on the move.

The Philadelphia Marketplace’s Cutting EDGE! Program (Excellence Drives Great Experiences) is designed to motivate and reward merchants for providing great customer service to passengers at PHL. Each merchant can earn EDGE! points for exceeding expectations through great customer service, marketing and training. At the end of each quarter, the merchant with the most points is named Merchant of the Quarter, and the merchant with the most points overall is named Merchant of the Year.

The restaurant and retail quarterly winners for 2015-2016 were as follows:

  • Q1: Vino Volo (B/C Connector) and Pandora (B/C Connector)
  • Q2: Legal Sea Foods (B/C Connector) and L’Occitane (B/C Connector)
  • Q3: Cibo Bistro & Wine Bar (Concourse B) and Fire & Ice (B/C Connector)
  • Q4: Sky Asian Bistro (Concourse C) and ROSTER (B/C Connector)

  • Outstanding Achievement: Chermaina Roundtree and Tanya Sykes of MarketPlace PHL
  • Employee of the Year: Jean Gachelin of International Shoppes
  • Community Outreach: Ronald McDonald Plane Pull – Chickie’s & Pete’s, OTG Management (Cibo bistro & Wine Bar, Cibo Express Gourmet Markets, Jet Rock Bar & Grill, Local Tavern, Re:Vive Bar, Sky Asian Bistro, World Bean) and New York Ice Cream, Inc.
