Etihad Airways Encourages The USA To 'Experience the World'

Aug. 31, 2016

Etihad Airways announced a sale of up to 50 percent off on selected routes until Sept. 5, as well as a prize draw offering customers a chance to win one of 100 experiences at their destination to the value of $200.

To encourage people to make the most of their holidays, Etihad Airways surveyed more than 1,400 US adults through YouGov, to ask what they would spend their money on when travelling.

The research has shown that just under two thirds (65 percent) of the people sampled, said they prefer to explore their destination in ventures beyond their accommodation whilst abroad, and almost half (49 percent) said they would spend a competition windfall on cultural tours or dining out.

Additionally, just over half of the respondents (51 percent) stated their preference in having a longer stay to experience more in a destination, rather than a shorter stay – proving travellers desire to make the most of being in a new destination and to explore more.

Incidentally, when comparing this to the same research completed in the UK market, similar findings and trends to the US market were identified, suggesting that consumer travelling habits do not vary much based on country, but that travellers' habits and desires for more compelling experiences continue to grow, regardless of location.

Daniel Barranger, senior vice president of global sales at Etihad Airways, said, "We have continued to expand our global network this year and add further aircraft to the fleet, ensuring we have a high-quality product throughout our aircraft available to the millions of guests who choose to fly with us each year. By including our partner airlines in our new offer, we are providing access to a larger list of destinations and a combined fleet of over 700 aircraft, ensuring we can meet every guest's personal requirements."
