Southern Airways Announces Nonstop MEM Service to Nashville & Jackson

Aug. 22, 2016

Southern Airways has announced that it will launch nonstop service between Memphis International Airport (MEM) and Nashville International Airport (BNA) beginning Sept. 26. The flights will operate daily with the exception of Saturday. Tickets are now on sale at www.iflysouthern.com with fares starting at $99. Today’s additions bring the total destinations at MEM to 38.

The nonstop flights between MEM and the state capital are the first since 2013. Southern Airways will use a 10-seat Cessna Caravan for the flight.

Southern Airways will also launch nonstop service between MEM and Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) on Sept. 26.

“This Nashville route is something that we’ve been working toward for many years,” said Stan Little, Chairman and CEO of Southaven-based Southern. “The two largest cities in America that were not connected with nonstop air service to their state capitals were Memphis and Pittsburgh. In the past month, we at Southern Airways have changed that, announcing Pittsburgh-Harrisburg service on August 2, and Memphis-Nashville service today. As Jackson and Memphis continue to prosper, traffic between the two cities continues to increase. What once was a 3-5 hour drive is now a one-hour flight.” This is a proud day for all of us at here at Memphis’ hometown airline.”

Like all Southern Airways flights from Memphis, the new Nashville flights will arrive and depart from the Signature Flight Support executive terminal at 2488 Winchester Road, across from the main passenger terminal.

“We believe that many business travelers will rejoice at the return of nonstop service to Nashville,” said Pace Cooper, Chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Board of Commissioners. “It’s essential that the reinvention of MEM includes service to both large metro markets and key regional airports. Adding Nashville and Jackson to our lineup helps to achieve that latter goal.”

At Signature, passengers are not required to pass through TSA security screening, and they may arrive at the terminal only 25 minutes prior to departure. Passengers undergo an electronic background check at the time of ticket purchase, and random security checks may occur prior to the flight.
