O'Hare Gets Perfect Marks for Safety from FAA

Aug. 22, 2016

The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) announced that O'Hare International Airport received a perfect score from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its annual Part 139 airfield safety inspection. The inspection period ran from July 11 through July 29.

The FAA's airfield inspection was conducted over the course of three weeks last month and was completed on July 29. This annual test closely examines an airport's compliance with regulations for airfield operations including pavement, signage, lighting, markings, inspection reports, fueling operations and emergency response and preparedness.

"Safe and efficient travel is our number one priority at Chicago's airports," said Ginger S. Evans, commissioner, CDA. "This perfect score for safe flight operations on one of the busiest airfields in the world highlights the CDA's dedication to provide the highest level of safety for the traveling public each and every day."
