Hollywood Burbank Airport Names Miller Executive Director

Aug. 11, 2016

Following a nationwide search that attracted some of the well-respected names in aviation, Frank Miller, A.A.E., has accepted an offer from TBI Airport Management Inc. (TBI), the airport authority's management firm, to oversee day-to-day operations as the executive director of the Hollywood Burbank Airport. Miller is slated to begin his new role on Sept. 6.

Miller, well known in the aviation community, brings over 33 years of aviation experience to Burbank and holds an illustrious career with profit and loss responsibility for airports of increasing size and scope complexity.

Miller most recently served as the aviation director of the San Antonio International Airport and Stinson Municipal Airport, a position which he had held since 2009. He has effectively directed several major airport capital development projects and has successfully planned and executed innovative approaches to manage and develop airports across the nation.

Prior to his position in San Antonio, Miller served 22 years as the airport director for the Pensacola Regional Airport in Pensacola, Fla. While there, he developed a private-public financing construction program for a new air traffic control tower; a project which was completed with no airport or city funds. The Federal Aviation Administration currently uses this model developed by Miller for their construction-leaseback program.

Miller also served as president of the Florida Airport Managers Association, and during his tenure, he established the Governmental Liaison Committee to establish a long-term partnership with Florida's U.S. Congressional Delegation to improve the federal dollar allocations for Florida's airports.

"Airports Worldwide and our wholly owned subsidiary TBI Airport Management Inc. are delighted to announce the appointment of Frank Miller to lead our excellent team of airport professionals at the Hollywood Burbank Airport as its next executive director," said Larry Gouldthorpe, president, TBI U.S. Operations. "Frank's strong background in the airport industry, along with his excellent reputation for performance and community involvement, make him eminently qualified to pick up the torch at BUR.   We appreciate the participation, professionalism and diligence of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority in the selection process.  Their involvement in this process was critical in arriving at the right choice for the future of the airport and influencing how it will impact the surrounding community going forward."

Miller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Pacific Lutheran University. He is a member of the Airports Council International (ACI) North America - where he served as Chairman in 2010-2011. He was also an ACI World Governing Board Member from 2009-2010 and served on the ACI World Governing Board Executive Committee from 2011-2012.

Miller is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) through the American Association of Airport Executives, and his accomplishments have been recognized in the industry with awards from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Airport Minority Advisory Council, the AAAE Southeast Chapter, Florida Department of Transportation, Airports Council International, Airports Council International-North America, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and the Association for Strategic Planning.
