GLO Adds Non-Stop Route to Huntsville International Airport

Aug. 8, 2016

New Orleans-owned and -based GLO announced its will expand non-stop service to its fifth destination from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) this fall – Huntsville, Alabama. GLO, operated by Corporate Flight Management Inc. (CFM), will introduce non-stop service to Huntsville International Airport (HSV) three days a week – Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The service will launch on September 30, 2016 with one-way, “GLOForIt” $99 fares (taxes, fees and three checked bags included) available for travel through Nov. 7. The introductory fares must be purchased by Aug. 18, and there is no round-trip requirement.

GLO, which began air service last November, offers a quality alternative to leisure and business travelers who have been relegated to exhausting road travel due to an absence of non-stop air service between South Louisiana and the Tennessee Valley region. Due to GLO’s economical fare structure, travelers will realize a cost-effective and timely alternative to driving between the Crescent City and the Rocket City. GLO's passengers will be able to enjoy more of their time meeting with business partners and clients or visiting the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, boating on the Tennessee River or enjoying a round of golf on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

GLO’s flight schedule timetable for the new route is as follows:

“We are very excited to launch non-stop service between New Orleans and Huntsville, Alabama” said GLO Founder and CEO Trey Fayard. “This is an underserved destination that has synergy with New Orleans as far as the business communities, especially in the engineering sector, and we believe it will also serve a great need in both regions for our loyal leisure travelers.”

“We are very pleased that GLO continues to have success in New Orleans,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, Director of Aviation for Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. “With this new destination, the Airport now offers service to 55 non-stop destinations which is a new record for us.”

GLO will be Huntsville International Airport’s fourth air carrier and the new route increases the amount of destination airports to ten.

“We are thrilled to welcome GLO as a new carrier for the Tennessee Valley region,” stated Bill Johnston, Jr., Chairman, Board of Directors, Huntsville International Airport. “The addition of MSY to the list of non-stop destinations for our market is superb. With NASA’s heavy presence in our community, service to New Orleans for business purposes is invaluable. This is also a fantastic destination for leisure travelers and greatly complements our existing service.”

GLO’s operator, CFM, will again deploy 30-passenger Saab 340B aircraft, known for its comfort and reliability, on the new routes. On-board service provided by a flight attendant will include complimentary snacks and beverages from the regions GLO services, as well as local publications. GLO passengers also may transport up to three bags and one personal item free of charge.

“The addition of non-stop air service between New Orleans and Huntsville will greatly boost our operations, as well as those of countless other companies in South Louisiana and Mississippi, by giving our valued employees a more efficient travel option. We are glad a local company has recognized the need for regional service and provided the solution we have been seeking,” Said Dr. Bobby Savoie, CEO of information technology and engineering services company Geocent, LLC. The company is headquartered in Metairie, Louisiana and has a Huntsville office location.

“Huntsville and New Orleans are at the forefront of America’s space programs, collaborating to develop and build future deep space travel capabilities,” said Sheila Sharp, a Huntsville rocket engineer who worked with industry leaders in both cities to gather data for the new service. “This service will make a difference in terms of cost, safety, and convenience for the people who travel between the two regions.”
