Passenger Traffic Keeps Increasing at ALB

July 26, 2016

Passenger traffic at Albany International Airport  (ALB) for the first six months of 2016 totaled 680,340, a 10.4 percent increase over 2015.

“The combination of additional seating capacity, new service by JetBlue and American as well as a robust economy have all led to a surge in business and leisure travel,” said Rev. Kenneth Doyle, chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority.

Passenger traffic at ALB during June of 2016 increased 11.2 percent above June of 2015.

The increase in passenger traffic has required the airport to construct two new long-term parking lots and expand the popular Economy E-Lot on the east side of the airport.  The total airport parking capacity now stands at over 6,000 available spaces.

Three flights now depart Albany International Airport between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.  To accommodate the increase in early morning travelers, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) now opens the Airport’s security checkpoint at 3:15 a.m.  The Albany County Airport Authority continues to urge passengers to arrive at their ticket counters at least 90 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of their flights.
