July 25, 2016

Rochelle “Chellie” Cameron, CEO of  Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), received the Philadelphia Business Journal 2016 Veterans of Influence Award recognizing distinguished veterans in the Philadelphia region.

Cameron oversees the planning, development and administration of all activities for the City’s Division of Aviation – which generates more than $14.4 billion in spending to the regional economy and accounts for more than 141,000 jobs within the region.

“I am honored to receive this award in the company of such inspiring veterans who have helped to shape the Philadelphia business community,” said Cameron. “My experience in the United States Air Force helped prepare me to take on the challenges and opportunities that come along with running a first-class airport like PHL, and I am truly proud for the opportunity to serve in this role for the City.”

The prestigious award presented last week honors veterans who are active leaders in the Philadelphia business community. Cameron is among 19 honorees selected by the Philadelphia Business Journal editorial board.

Cameron spent seven years as an active duty officer in the Air Force and one year as an Air Force civilian employee. She completed her service in 1998 as an active duty Captain. Throughout her service, she was stationed at U.S. and overseas bases, including Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, the former Bolling Air Force Base in Washington D.C., Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, and the Pentagon.

Cameron was appointed CEO in January 2016. She came to PHL in 2011 when she was named Deputy Director of Aviation, Finance and Administration. In 2014, she was named Chief Operating Officer, responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations. Previously, she spent 13 years with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which is responsible for operating and maintaining Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, the Dulles Toll Road, and the Washington, D.C. Metrorail System.

Cameron holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery. She is a certified public accountant in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia, and a member of the American Association of Airport Executives Policy Review Committee. She also serves on the Boards of Directors for the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Global Philadelphia, LEADERSHIP Philadelphia, and Angel Flight East.
