EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, Oshkosh, WI—July 23, 2016—TRU Simulation + Training Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that its Aviation Maintenance Training Academy plans to expand training capability for several popular piston and jet engine aircraft models from now until the end of 2016. Opened in November of 2015, TRU’s Aviation Maintenance Training Academy is located on the Textron Aviation Mid-Continent campus in Wichita, Kansas.

Aircraft technicians receive a combination of classroom instruction featuring 3D modeling and animation and hands-on training on both maintenance task trainers and actual aircraft housed in the academy’s adjacent 35,000 square foot, climate-controlled hangar. Instruction is provided by individuals who not only are experienced in maintaining the type of aircraft they are teaching, but who also have direct interaction with the people who make the aircraft.

Courses currently offered include maintenance and avionics initial and practical for new production Beechcraft King Air 300 and 200 series turboprops, and instruction for McCauley propeller maintenance for piston and turboprop model aircraft.

Future courses planned to be available in 2016 include maintenance and avionics initial courses for the Cessna Caravan 208, CJ Series, Excel Series, Sovereign, Sovereign + and Latitude models as well as the Beechcraft Baron and Bonanza models. Additionally, maintenance and avionics initial courses will be available for the Single Engine High Wing (SEHW) models of the Cessna SkyHawk, SkyLane, Turbo Stationair. The academy will also specialize in a brief 1.5 day course on the Beechcraft Structural Inspection and Repair Manual to satisfy FAA compliance requirements on affected Beechcraft models.

“As the only OEM-certified aviation maintenance training academy to be co-located on the Textron Aviation campus, our courses are built upon the most accurate and current specifications available,” explained David Smith, Vice President of Training Centers. “Customers who train in our state-of-the-art facility experience instructors who not only are licensed subject matter experts on the aircraft they teach, but also have significant experience in maintaining that specific aircraft.”
