WomenVenture at Oshkosh: Nine Years Old and Going Strong

June 27, 2016
The heart of WomenVenture is Wednesday, July 27, which kicks off with the WAI Connect Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in the EAA Nature Center Pavilion.

WomenVenture 2016 has been expanded to include daily activities planned to attract and inspire female show-goers at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. Throughout the years, WomenVenture has enhanced the presence of women at AirVenture and given show-goers the opportunity to bond with other women who share their passion for all things aviation.

The heart of WomenVenture is Wednesday, July 27, which kicks off with the WAI Connect Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in the EAA Nature Center Pavilion. Sherry Carbary, Vice President, Flight Services, Commercial Aviation Services, Boeing Commercial Airplanes will speak along with Jackie Nesselroad, Boeing director of production operations for the Space Launch System New Orleans facility, managing the teams building the core stages of the Mars rocket for NASA.

With sold-out crowds in the past years, it is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance HERE at WAI.org for $15 each when purchased by July 24. Tickets can also be purchased for $20 at the WAI’s exhibit in booth in Hangar B, booth 2041.

Then, the group forms up again at Boeing Centennial Plaza for the yearly group photo of women aviators at AirVenture. This group photo is followed by the WomenVenture Power Lunch at Theater in the Woods featuring Speed & Angels Lt. Cmdr. Meagan Flannigan and Navy combat veteran Vanessa Christie as the speakers. Tickets for the Power Lunch are available HERE at EAA.org for $5.

Throughout the week, accomplished women in aviation will present programs at forums around the grounds as well as in evening programs at Theater in the Woods. Confirmed speakers include Jessica Cox, Lisa Turner, Connie Bowlin, Karen Perry, Margaret Viola, Debby Gary, and Vanessa Christie.

“When you combine the packed week of WomenVenture with the endless sights and sounds and experiences of AirVenture, every aviation-loving woman should be Oshkosh-bound in July,” said WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “WomenVenture is motivational and inspirational, and AirVenture is just plain fun.”
