Pork & Pickle Restaurant Opens at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport

June 24, 2016

The modern concept of a gastropub combines a praiseworthy beverage selection with simple yet satisfying high quality food, and BBQ is widely considered to be one of the most authentic and traditional cooking styles there is – something everyone’s primal instincts can relate to. Pork & Pickle by global restaurateur HMSHost ties these elements together to give travelers a place to enjoy a premium food and bar experience in a modern, yet classic pub environment.

Anchorage International Airport’s Concourse C was celebrated last night as part of an event at the airport showcasing the many upgrades that have been made and cultural attractions that have been added.

“HMSHost is proud to partner with Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to bring these great new dining options to ANC travelers,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas. “We are so excited to continue building new restaurant offerings, keeping the travelers’ experience at the forefront of our minds.”

Pork & Pickle is HMSHost’s exclusive gastropub and BBQ restaurant dedicated to crafting and serving good food and drink. It is known as one of the few restaurants in an airport that smokes meats on-site to give guests an authentic wood-smoked barbecue experience.

“Our goal is to create a variety of venues that encourage repeat visits from both our out of town guests and locals as they enjoy an Alaskan experience.” said Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Manager John Parrott.
Pork & Pickle’s menu emphasizes high-quality barbecue and beers to match. Some Pork & Pickle favorites include smoked pork spare ribs, smoked beef brisket, smoked paprika BBQ turkey breast, ‘dirty chips’ (made with BBQ trimmings), and of course the signature ‘pork & pickle’ pulled pork sandwich with bread & butter pickles. Flavors from the region are infused into this core offering with menu items like Alaskan hot smoked salmon salad and Alaskan cod & chips. The beer menu is also representative of Alaska, featuring bottles and some taps from nearby breweries including Denali Brewing, Alaska Brewing, Midnight Sun Brewing Company, and Glacier Brewhouse.

Pork & Pickle is an expanding exclusive restaurant concept created by HMSHost. It first launched in Kansas City International Airport and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is the second location. A third will soon open in Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport this fall.
