June 20, 2016

Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL), changed its cargo-handling partner at Frankfurt International Airport. From July 1, the airline is served by LUG aircargo handling. The GHA will handle the belly cargo of JAL’s daily flights with B 777-300ER and B 787-900 (Dreamliner) to/from Frankfurt as well as road feeder services for JAL Cargo.

The JAL Group operates cargo handling in 94 stations in 18 countries. Founded in 1951 the airline prides itself of a fleet with some 224 aircraft.

“We are delighted that we have been able to impress such a customer as JAL Cargo providing unparalleled service with our superior service quality and win the airline as customer. We expect a handling volume of 800 – 1000 t per month. JAL Cargo’s global network is going to further expand our international footprint. The airline cooperates closely with British Airways which is also a handling customer of ours,” says Patrik Tschirch, managing director & CEO, LUG aircargo handling GmbH.

“We have opted for LUG aircargo handling as a professional and reliable partner that will help us deliver a seamless end-to-end customer experience. I believe the company is a perfect fit for JAL Cargo’s wide product portfolio and premium service goals. LUG will help us to fulfil our customers’ expectations and satisfy our own ambitions in terms of high quality service, safety standards, and responsiveness to customer demands,” says Sachito Akimoto, general manager, cargo & mail, Germany JAL.

“Adding JAL to our customer portfolio is a highlight in our jubilee year and boosts our business growth. We are proud that we have successfully operated in the very competitive handling market for 50 years now. Times are not as glorious as in the 60s when we started. But we have achieved a lot and are confident about the future. We have a very professional and dedicated team. And the whole Dettmer Group backs us up”, adds Tschirch.
