June 6, 2016

Washington, DC, June 3, 2016 –  The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announced today that Dan Williams, vice president of aviation and global travel for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., has been named to the NBAA board of directors.

“We are pleased to welcome Dan Williams to NBAA’s board of directors,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “He provides the perspective of a proven leader and is a dedicated professional who creates value for his company every day through a successful business aviation operation.”

Walmart has effectively used general aviation aircraft since its founder, Sam Walton, piloted a piston-powered airplane from the company’s headquarters in Bentonville, AR, to identify new store locations and to conduct on-site management of stores located in small towns.

Williams joined the flight department of Walmart in 2000 as a first officer. He rose through the ranks, and has been in his current role since 2007.

Before joining Walmart, Williams was a professional pilot for business flight departments and airlines. He has been a pilot for 29 years, and has an airline transport pilot rating with more than 8,000 accident-free, incident-free flight hours.

An Arkansas native, Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Florida State University. He resides in Bentonville.
