KCI: Passengers Up 3% in April

The city of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 879,142 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in April, up 3 percent from April 2015. For the year to date, total passengers in and out are 3,286,433, up 6.2 percent. April passenger boardings were up 2.9 percent, with a total of 438,697. For the year to date, boardings are 1,640,826, up 6.3 percent.

“April marks two straight years of consecutive year-over-year traffic gains,” said Mark VanLoh, director of aviation. “Our airline partners continue to offer Kansas City travelers excellent flight options with the addition of new flights and new destinations.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were down 0.4 percent in April with a total of 16.1 million pounds handled. Air freight handled at KCI during April amounted to 15.7 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 1.8 percent.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for April 2016 was 164. Service was offered to 45 nonstop markets. There was an average of 37,592 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 6 daily departures for April.
