West Star Aviation to Perform First 96-Month Inspection on an Embraer Legacy 600

May 19, 2016

East Alton, IL , May 19, 2016 - West Star Aviation is proud to announce they are performing their first 96-calendar month Embraer Legacy 600 heavy inspection.

The 96-month inspection is a very invasive process that includes removal of interior down to fuselage skins and frames, all large exterior fairings, landing gear, flight controls, wing leading edges, and, flaps are removed. The inspection requires West Star to conduct various system functional tests and NDT inspections, all done in house. In addition, this inspection will include an interior and corrosion inspection, and fuel tank inspections.

"With the growing popularity of Legacy aircraft, we are proud to be able to facilitate this inspection. This inspection requires 7-10 weeks of downtime which requires advance planning as well as experienced well-trained technicians" said Joe Carr, Embraer Program Manager. "With the downtime we are able to perform other maintenance, and with the grand opening of our new 25,000 sq. foot three-bay paint facility large enough to house Legacy Aircraft, we can service paint and interior as well," Carr continued.

West Star Aviation's state-of-the-art Grand Junction, Colorado facility is an authorized Embraer Service Center for base maintenance and this inspection is one of two of the most extensive inspections on the Embraer Legacy aircraft. On average, to perform the inspection, it can require over 3,000 labor hours and also involves specialized equipment, as well as particular knowledge of the airframe and tooling.
