Having recently announced expansion plans at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Republic Airport (FRG) in New York, Sheltair is now expanding at the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) with a $3.1 million state-of-the-art hangar and office complex of nearly 25,000 square feet of space strategically located adjacent to the Sheltair FBO and Gulfstream Service Center.
Todd Anderson, Sheltair senior vice president for real estate and development, stated, “Many of our Savannah customers are especially pleased to hear that this new hangar includes a high tail door to accommodate the latest fleet of G-650s. Sheltair’s decision to move ahead with construction reflects its appreciation that there is confirmed demand for hangar space that can accommodate the latest generation of large cabin class general aviation jet aircraft and the growth of Savannah as a compelling business destination”.
Gregory B. Kelly, executive director of the Savannah Airport Commission, stated, “We are pleased that Sheltair has made the decision to expand their facilities here at the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport. Their willingness to invest in our market at this time is a strong indicator that general aviation activities are increasing here which is a good thing for our airport and the region we serve. Sheltair has been a great partner of ours over the past 10 years and we appreciate the opportunity to continue to be part of its growth and success at this location.”
Construction is expected to be completed during fourth quarter of 2016 with design and engineering work having been completed by Team Architecture Inc. and Boswell Design Services respectively. Johnson-Laux Construction was selected by Sheltair and is the on-site general contractor/construction manager.
“From ample parking on the ramp to a painless 35 minute drive to Hilton Head Island, our new facility will be capable of meeting a broad range of requirements sought by our clients who are making the Savannah metro region a primary business and recreation destination,” stated Warren Kroeppel, Sheltair chief operating officer. “This decision is another example of our strategic initiative to look at where our customers want to go and how best to ensure that we are ahead of the curve in meeting that need.”
