Support from Avionica’s 3G and 4G avCM wireless cellular modules and the lightweight aviONS onboard network server allow flight operators to connect to their airline’s data network and quickly download raw flight data recorded by a miniQAR.

ATLANTA – April 27, 2016 – Avionica Inc. of Miami, a leading provider of data collection and transmission equipment for the air transport industry, announced today that Brazil has approved the avCM 3G and 4G cellular modules, which are compatible with Avionica’s line of miniature quick-access recorders (miniQAR).

“The approval by Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil bolsters Avionica’s footprint and market opportunities in the Brazilian airspace. It reinforces Avionica’s ability to gain global certification acceptance for its products. And further, it’s another step toward ‘forward fit’ opportunities with Embraer,” said Simone Drakes, vice president of engineering, speaking from the Avionics Maintenance Conference in Atlanta.

The Brazilian Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) Certificado Suplementar de Tipo (STC) validation approval of the Federal Aviation Administration’s STC #ST03885AT (ANAC Project No. H.02-4703-0) for Avionica’s 3G and 4G avCM cellular modules marks the company’s 38th Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) of approval, of which 18 are from the FAA, for installation of Avionica’s airborne products on more than 250 models of transport aircraft.

“Avionica’s in-house staff of certification engineers distinguishes the company and gives it a competitive advantage. I applaud our team for ensuring excellence in customer experience, from order acquisition, system installation and airworthiness approval to eventual continued flight operation,” said Drakes, who is an FAA designated engineering representative (DER).

Support from Avionica’s 3G and 4G avCM wireless cellular modules and the lightweight aviONS onboard network server allow flight operators of air transport and business jets to connect to their airline’s data network and quickly download raw flight data recorded by a miniQAR. Digital transfer takes place in real-time over secure wireless high-speed Internet and network connections no matter how remote the airport.

Avionica miniQARs have been chosen as the preferred QAR for three of the largest airlines in the United States as well as FedEx, UPS, and foreign airlines such as GOL, Emirates, FlyBe, Envoy, Air France and flydubai.  Of approximately 8,000 installations, nearly 1,200 Avionica cellular modules are employed to wirelessly transmit flight data upon landing or arriving at a gate.
