ForwardKeys and JMG-Research Join Forces to Create a Global Retail & Travel Retail Division

March 29, 2016
They will meet the Industry need for live information about international passenger traffic by nationality about how, when and where the passengers are travelling, understanding when they book their trips, and when they travel.

Leading provider of Travel Intelligence ForwardKeys and Paris-based Travel Retail research company JMG-Research are building a new division under ForwardKeys umbrella to bring a new perspective to the Retail and the Travel Retail players.

Thanks to this new development, ForwardKeys and JMG-Research will meet the Industry need for live information about international passenger traffic by nationality.

Our industry has a desperate need for Worldwide, real-time information about how, when and where the passengers are travelling, understanding when they book their trips, when they travel, isolating all various steps from the initial domestic flight to the international legs, including transits. Another aspect is to be able to anticipate future flow based to registered bookings.

“Evidence based decision making is becoming a requirement in business practices in the travel industry and peripheral businesses – there is a need for live, actionable, tactical, reliable, and forward looking information on traveller trends. Our solutions start by answering some very fundamental questions: What is the potential of the market? What will travel demand be in the coming months, and for each destination around the globe? What are the events that are triggering that demand?” said Olivier Jager, Founder of ForwardKeys.

The Spain-based company focuses on big data and business intelligence for the travel industry, drawn from anonymized and aggregated global Air reservation information. ForwardKeys had already some contacts with retailers or brands, but joining forces with Jérôme Goldberg thanks to the setup of our new 'Global Retail & Travel Retail' Division is a commitment to put more emphasis in this vertical.

"It was very frustrating until now to have to wait for several months to end up with information too old to be really actionable and too static to be used as forecast. Thanks to this new Business Intelligence tool, we can not only provide our clients with a real-time pulse of the market, tracking the key destinations for each nationality, but also allow them to built tactical actions to reach the right consumer group as they know in advance the true traveling patterns," said Jérôme Goldberg, Founder of JMG-Research. "It is a perfect match with our existing focus on the Global Shopper Behaviours, and in the future we will combine these two dimensions. Imagine what you can do, knowing what passengers are expected to do, plus where and when they will be in Airport Shops or visiting cities!"

"We have tested the interest of potential users during the last TFWA in Cannes, and the feedback we have received was fantastic. We have already started 2016 with our first clients, being brands, operators or airports," Jager added.

Jérôme Goldberg is joining ForwardKeys, and he takes up the new role of Director of Business Development - Global Retail & Travel Retail. He remains Managing Director of JMG-Research. He can be reached by email:[email protected] or on his mobile: +33 6 61 66 24 71.
