Sees Value In Educating Market On Past, Present & Future Of Aviation Support

Kingsport, TN, January 25, 2016 – Eastman Chemical Company recently launched "Eastman Supports Aviation", a digital, visual guide that highlights all areas where Eastman provides products and services to the aviation industry as a whole. Eastman has a long heritage of supporting the aviation industry and this illustration helps bring this history to life.

The guide is the latest in Eastman's larger effort to continually provide its markets and existing customers an easier way to access high level information on the full range of products and services the company provides to each industry. The guide provides information on dedicated aviation products like Eastman™ Turbo Oils and Skydrol® hydraulic fluids along with solvents like Skykleen® and Omnia®, but also highlights other Eastman products that can potentially be used in the development and manufacture of many other aviation related products. Applications include window films, coatings, plasticizers and chemicals used in aerospace tire formulation. "Eastman Supports Aviation" can be found on their website at www.eastman.com/aviation.

Eastman Aviation Solutions, the dedicated aviation products team within Eastman Chemical Company, wanted a user-friendly way to effectively communicate their full range of products that can support aviation outside of their dedicated aviation fluids. "The aviation industry recognizes our dedicated products such as Eastman Turbo Oil 2197 and Eastman Skydrol. Some of our other products that have real and potential aviation applications are not as well known. This illustration helps show all the ways that Eastman supports aviation," said Paul Fridman, Eastman Aviation Marketing Manager. "The Eastman Supports Aviation guide allows existing and potential customers to see the many ways we currently support their operation along with other products that have a wide range of aviation applications," he continued.

The interactive guide highlights the well-known products like Skydrol aviation hydraulic fluids, Eastman Turbo Oils and aviation solvents like SkyKleen, as well as other established aviation products like Clearway® deicers. The Clearway range, a leader in airport runway deicing, has been developed to include both liquid and solid formate- and acetate-based products. Clearway deicers have shown to be highly effective in various winter conditions while remaining compliant with the latest technical and environmental standards.

More importantly, the guide provides a complete overview of other Eastman technologies indicative of the company's deep commitment to aviation, now and into the future. These products include specialized plasticizers, the Eastman Solus™ family of performance additives and cellulose esters. Eastman plasticizers are a broad range of non-phthalate products including fast fusers, viscosity reducers and sustainable solutions that provide performance and value for the transportation industry. The Eastman Solus family of performance additives are specifically engineered for the next generation of VOC-compliant coatings. These cellulose-based products are natural, renewable and include products for both high-solids solvent borne and waterborne systems applicable across a broad range of applications.

Additionally, as the world's largest producer of window films and related products with brands like V-KOOL®, Llumar®, FormulaOne®, and Hüper Optik®, Eastman brings expertise in this specialized area to aviation. Technologies ranging from deep-dyed polyesters to nanoceramic multilayered sputtering window films, have a strong future in aviation. Similarly, Eastman's Saflex® products are a line of high-performance PVB interlayers that help engineers meet the stringent design requirements for glazing in the automotive, architectural, and aerospace industries.

Eastman also provides a range of products that are integral in the development and manufacture of aerospace tires. Eastman Impera™ is a line of performance resin additives that optimize wet tire grip and rolling performance without compromising other key performance characteristics.

Eastman Santoflex® are antidegradants used to extend tire flexibility and service life by preventing premature tire aging due to ozone or oxygen exposure.

Crystex® vulcanizing agents for rubber prevent sulfur migration and bloom, which can interfere in the tire manufacturing process. Information about all these products can be found at Eastman.com.
