PEMCO Delivers Third B737-400 Combi Conversion to First Air

Jan. 27, 2016

PEMCO World Air Services (PEMCO) has announced the redelivery of a 737-400 Combi aircraft, MSN 27232 registration C-FFNC, to First Air, Canada’s foremost Arctic and remote region air carrier.  Previously PEMCO converted two 737 Combi’s for First Air, which underlines the strength of the relationship and the reliability of PEMCO’s conversions.

As the third conversion project for the Ottawa-based carrier since 2014, this versatile, PEMCO-built Combi will be providing a unique combination of cargo and passenger services. The conversion was completed at PEMCO’s headquarters at Tampa International Airport.

This latest PEMCO redelivery is a 737-400 Combi capable of simultaneously carrying four and a half pallets of freight and 72 passengers. The functional capability of this converted aircraft makes it ideal for First Air to accomplish unique and difficult missions including gravel and ice strip operations in remote locations. PEMCO’s Combi design is in a class by itself as the only certified Combi STC for a 737-400 in the world.

PEMCO’s customers select the company’s passenger-to-freighter conversion for its superior cargo door and system, superior operating functions, on-time turnaround, and a track record of two million hours of safe, reliable operation.

"We are very pleased to have PEMCO perform the fixed-Combi modification on our third B737-400 aircraft," stated First Air VP Maintenance & Engineering Rashwan Domloge. "We are extremely satisfied with the service they provide and the commitment they have consistently shown towards our aircraft. PEMCO provides a quality product and their expertise shows in their seamless accomplishment of this major mod."

“This most recent combi conversion for First Air is a testament to the relationship between First Air and PEMCO,” stated PEMCO Director of Cargo Conversions Mike Andrews. “PEMCO is proud to continue to provide excellent service for First Air, and we look forward to delivering top-quality aircraft to these long-time customers.”
