Boeing Shanghai Signs Maintenance Agreement with Thomas Cook Airlines

MRO facility’s global reach continues to expand

SHANGHAI, Jan 26, 2016 – Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd., (Boeing Shanghai) today announced the signing of a maintenance agreement with Thomas Cook Airlines for Boeing 767 fleet maintenance. With this contract, Boeing Shanghai has expanded its airplane maintenance services to the United Kingdom.

The first Thomas Cook 767 was inducted for C-check in October, followed by one airplane in November and one in 2016 at Boeing Shanghai’s facilities at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. A C-check is an extensive check of the airplane's systems and components that can require several days to perform.

“Through this contract, Thomas Cook Airlines will receive full service, high quality and cost-effective maintenance which will enhance the reliability and cost effectiveness of its operation,” said Jaakko Schildt, Head of the Group Maintenance Organisation (GMO) of Thomas Cook Group Airlines.

The Thomas Cook Group Airlines consist of four leisure airlines: Thomas Cook Airlines UK , Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium, Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia and Condor Flugdienst. The airlines carry 17.2m passengers per year, generating revenues of £2.7bn. The combined fleet consists of 91 aircraft.

Boeing Shanghai is a joint venture between Boeing, Shanghai Airport Authorities and China Eastern Airlines. Boeing Shanghai is a full service Maintenance Repair and Overhaul facility and offers a broad range of services from engineering, aircraft maintenance and modification to material management, and component repair and overhaul.
