CJP Welcomes New CJ3 Avionics Upgrade Option

Citation Jet Pilots Owner Pilot Association (CJP) welcomed the news that Rockwell Collins, and aviation maintenance and support provider Duncan Aviation, are offering the Pro Line Fusion aftermarket flight deck upgrade for Citation CJ3 owners.

CJP HEADQUARTERS, ENTERPRISE, FL (November 18, 2015) – The Citation Jet Pilots Owner Pilot Association (CJP) welcomed today’s announcement by avionics supplier Rockwell Collins, and aviation maintenance and support provider Duncan Aviation, of the new Pro Line Fusion aftermarket flight deck upgrade for Citation CJ3 owners. The companies announced the new avionics solution at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) annual convention now underway in Las Vegas.

Building on the companies’ Pro Line Fusion upgrade for Beechcraft King Air turboprop aircraft – many of which, like the CJ3, were originally equipped with Pro Line 21 avionics – the CJ3 upgrade replaces the factory-installed portrait displays with larger 14.1-inch landscape touchscreen primary flight displays. The upgrade retains the CJ3’s existing Rockwell Collins-sourced autopilot and radios.

“This announcement is the culmination of extensive talks over the past year between CJP, Duncan Aviation, and Rockwell Collins to provide an attractive and cost-effective avionics upgrade solution for CJ3 pilots,” said CJP President David Miller. “We are extremely excited by this announcement, as well as its implications for Members flying other Citation types originally equipped with Rockwell Collins avionics.”

The touchscreen-enabled Pro Line Fusion system includes intuitive, interactive maps, and easy-to-use icons, and eliminates the need for flight management system (FMS) control display units originally installed in the pedestal. The system is also software-upgradeable for easy updates, and allows future

integration of other systems including Rockwell Collins' HGS-3500 Head-up Guidance System, EVS-3000 Enhanced Vision System, MultiScan weather radar, and Airport Moving Map.

“The Pro Line Fusion solution offers an exciting new alternative for our Members flying one of Cessna’s most popular, versatile, and efficient Citation types,” Miller concluded. “Perhaps most significantly, the upgrade will allow CJ3 pilots to utilize the very latest technological advances in the FAA’s “NextGen” air traffic control network, including compliance with the FAA’s 2020 ADS-B [automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast] mandate.”

Under the agreement, Duncan Aviation will facilitate the installation of the CJ3 Pro Line Fusion upgrade at its avionics support facilities located throughout the United States. Both companies expect certification for the CJ3 Pro Line Fusion upgrade by the end of 2016, with applications for other CJ models to be announced in the future.
