has won a two-year extension to its long-running Rate-Per-Flying-Hour (RPFH) spares support contract with leading Nepalese regional operator, Yeti Airlines.

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has won a two-year extension to its long-running Rate-Per-Flying-Hour (RPFH) spares support contract with leading Nepalese regional operator, Yeti Airlines.

The MACRO contract (Material and Components Repair and Overhaul) covers the airline’s fleet of seven BAE Systems-built 29-seat Jetstream 41 turboprop airliners and covers some 240 separate part numbers.

Under the contract BAE Systems retains responsibility for managing the spares inventory, logistics and repairs. This allows Yeti Airlines to focus its attention on the day-to-day running of its intensive domestic schedule with the Jetstream 41s, while BAE Systems provides a first-class support service.

Yeti Airlines first enrolled on to the MACRO programme in 2006 and this second extension by the airline will see the programme continue until the end of 2017. Yeti has become the first operator to sign up for the new remodelled version of MACRO.

BAE Systems has recently conducted an extensive review of its RPFH programmes with the main objective being to control costs to provide the stability to underpin these programmes for the future. Detailed discussions have been carried out with all the main vendors to secure long-term fixed price RPFH and repair and overhaul pricing with capped escalation rates.

Yeti Airlines first started operating the Jetstream 41 in 2006 and today with this aircraft it serves nine scheduled destinations across Nepal from the capital Kathmandu, as well as offering regular Mount Everest scenic observation flights.

Its sister airline TARA Air operates a fleet of Short Take-off and Landing aircraft to further Nepalese destinations and between them the two airlines provide the largest network of flight routes throughout Nepal.
