Boeing Teams with Pegasus Airlines to Optimize Maintenance Efficiency for Next-Generation 737s

LONDON, Oct. 15, 2015 – Boeing (NYSE: BA) announced today that it has teamed up with Turkey’s leading low-cost airline, Pegasus Airlines, to implement operations improvements for the airline’s fleet of current and future Next-Generation 737 models.

The improvements will reduce costs and increase the efficiency of maintenance operations as part of Boeing’s Optimized Maintenance Program service.

“Adding this extra level of analysis to our already high-performing Next-Generation 737 fleet ensures safe, reliable, and cost‑effective airplane performance, and is an overall value add to our operations,” said Tahsin İstanbullu, vice president - Technical, Pegasus Airlines. “We are pleased to have Boeing’s experienced team working with us to achieve these financial and operational improvements.”

Through the Optimized Maintenance Program, Boeing Professional Services teams analyze historical maintenance data and develop a maintenance program focused on reducing scheduled maintenance labor costs, lowering materials costs and improving airplane maintenance ground time.

By evaluating and analyzing the maintenance program, including logbooks, scheduled maintenance data, component maintenance records and other metrics, Boeing develops recommendations for maintenance program enhancements customized to accommodate the unique operating environments and specific operational goals of the airline.

Boeing technical consultants worked directly with Pegasus Airlines and the local regulatory authority, Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Turkey, to obtain approval of recommended maintenance program changes.

“The Optimized Maintenance Program combines our team’s experience and knowledge with advanced analytics to identify all of the strengths, constraints and opportunities that factor into an airline’s maintenance programs,” said Per Norén, vice president, Digital Solutions, Boeing Digital Aviation, Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. “The end result is an effective and efficient maintenance program tailored specifically for our customer’s fleet.”

Optimized Maintenance has been adopted by an increasing number of airlines since Boeing launched the program three years ago.

Boeing Commercial Aviation Services offers the aviation industry’s broadest portfolio of customer support and services. Commercial Aviation Services supports more than 12,000 airplanes world-wide, with 330 field services offices in 60 countries.
