Stratech Lands Two Out of the Five Coveted Awards for its Leadership & Excellence in Technology

Aug. 25, 2015
This year, Stratech has garnered the IPOS Award for Technology Patent, which salutes organisations whose patented inventions have given them a definitive technological and competitive advantage, while benefiting society at large.

Tireless efforts to transform the surveillance and security industry through innovative, even visionary technologies have won The Stratech Group (Stratech or the Group) two out of the five landmark accolades from the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).

The wins – based on its patented technologies and methodologies that drive the Group’s flagship iFerret™ airfield/runway surveillance system – demonstrate why Stratech’s proprietary intelligent Vision technology is fast taking the lead not just in Singapore but around the world.

Launched in 2013 by IPOS in partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the annual awards applaud excellence in innovation and creativity, singling out organisations that have successfully leveraged their IP and established themselves as role models in their industries. The criteria include outstanding patent portfolios, successful trade mark portfolios and truly innovative designs. To date, only eight organisations have received a WIPO-IPOS IP Award – those honoured include the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and Siemens Medical Instruments Pte Ltd.

This year, Stratech has garnered the IPOS Award for Technology Patent, which salutes organisations whose patented inventions have given them a definitive technological and competitive advantage, while benefiting society at large.

Moreover, as the most outstanding award recipient overall, Stratech has also landed the WIPO IP Enterprise Trophy, which lauds organisations for creative use of IP in their business activities. The trophy was rolled out for this year’s awards, which makes Stratech the very first company to be accorded this distinction.

The Group’s Executive Chairman, Dr. David K.M. Chew said: “We are delighted and honoured to have earned such overwhelming recognition from IPOS. These awards show that everything we have worked for over the years has come to fruition – that our tireless efforts to create a better, safer world through groundbreaking technologies are revolutionizing the surveillance and security industry.

“This endorsement will propel us further in our commitment to innovation and quality, as we continue to invest in our people and enhance our operations at every level. Now, we are even more determined to win global acceptance for our cutting-edge products such as iFerret™, while growing our recurrent income base through maintenance contracts for clients already in the fold.”

Clients of the iFerret™ include Singapore's Changi Airport, Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong International Airport and one of the world's top air forces. Last month, the Group added its first client from a US commercial airport, Miami International Airport, to its client base.

The Stratech Group Limited is a market leader in technology innovation, whose key breakthroughs include intelligent vision systems – highly sophisticated and adaptive technologies that provide precise image processing solutions for surveillance and security. Building on its long expertise in developing mission-critical e-systems for both government and business clients, it is now making swift inroads into the aerospace sector.

In particular, the iFerret™ airfield/runway surveillance system – which can detect, track and display foreign objects and debris (FOD) in real time – has gained international recognition since it was certified by the US Federal Aviation Administration in 2012. This certification opens up vast opportunities in the global civil aviation market, especially with the heightened focus on airport safety and security. Customers of the system include Singapore’s Changi Airport, Dubai International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport and Miami International Airport.

Moreover, the state-of-the-art system was recently selected for assessment by an airbase of one of the world’s top air forces. The contract included iFerret™’s rapid airfield damage assessment system (RADAS), which can chart damage resulting from enemy attacks. The passive sensor technology used by iFerret™ makes it far more suitable than conventional radar-based systems for airbase deployment.

Stratech has designed and rolled out other innovative solutions for a wide array of markets worldwide. These premier products include the iVACS® Intelligent Vehicle Access Control System, the Super Bulls Eye® Advanced Weapons Scoring System and the VIPS® Vessel Identification and Positioning System. iVACS® recently clinched a major contract for a Smart City Project in the Middle East.
